Do you ask yourself this question: What am I actually committed to in life? Looking out for its answer isn’t as simple a task as it seems to be. Take yourself back in the day when you achieved any goal, such as shedding your weight, sticking to a high-priority project deadline, finishing a book, editing a manuscript, finding a suitable profession for yourself, cracking an interview you’d prepared for. . .so on and so forth. You can recount many such stories and reminisce being joyous about achieving a certain goal you’d set for yourself. When you commit yourself to something in life, not only it is an indication about how seriously willing you are to actualise your dreams and aspirations, but also reflects on your idea of personal growth.

But it is far from being easy yet never impossible. When you do not see an end to something, you often get overwhelmed by the obstacles involved. And then you calculate its worthiness before committing yourself to it. You will find yourself less committed to one thing and more towards some other, the degree keeps changing. In other words, you will find some tasks unimportant and not motivating enough. The lack of motivation often results into becoming non-committal towards any goal. Let’s see how to eliminate that feeling to be more committed to your goals:

Are You Really Committed? Ask yourself if you are really committed to a particular task. Do you have a clear sight and purpose behind pursuing it? If you answer in the affirmative, you should start acting on it. The faster you act, the better it is. Don’t wait for the perfect time, go ahead with your decision, do away with the uncertainties and stop making excuses.

Lose Something To Achieve Something: Always remember this principle. In order to stay committed in something, you must be willing to let go of a lot of unimportant, lesser important activities. Move out of your comfort zone and accept the principle of sacrificing for greater good.

Is Purpose Driving You? You need to understand that in order to be fully committed to a particular task, you should realise its purpose. If you are committed towards anything without purpose, chances are you wouldn’t be able to justify your actions. Having a purpose is like having a passion to reach where you want to, without fearing the challenges and worrying about consequences.

Is There Any Progress: By that we mean keeping a tab on your progress. Until you know how much distance have you covered, how will you reflect on all the work you have accomplished so far? Keep a check. Keep moving on!

Write in to us and share your views on commitment.

Self-confidence comes when you conquer doubt. When we know we are right, even when others criticise us, and we listen to our self, we are demonstrating confidence. Let us explain the steps that build confidence:

Insecurities, What’re Those?: There are incidents which have made you feel inferior and insecure, and have bogged you down to the level of no return. It could be anything, right from a past sour experience to getting bullied, to feeling physically inferior to someone, to feeling not-so-worthy – the first thing you should do is to identify what these are and become aware of their existence in your life. Half the battle is won if you are simply aware of them.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy: You would find many of your friends and folks at home saying to you, “Hey! Don’t you worry, be happy! We are with you.” Acknowledge. You need their support. Talk about your doubts and insecurities to them. Think about these issues, fight with them internally, practice persistence until you are able to resolve them in the mind. Think whether these are relevant issues that need any pondering over. And if you cannot get rid of these thoughts, stay with them, live with them, fully accept them to be part of your life, gracefully.

Know What You are Good At: Having noted the things that pull us down, we need to also list the things that push us up. Put yourself in a position where the positives can be leveraged. Ponder upon your strengths. Count them. Write them down. Do a SWOT analysis. Know your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. It is as much important to enjoy the activity of coming face-to-face with them as it is to realise them.

Project the Positive: The way you see yourself is the way others perceive you. Project the positive. It is not as same as wanting to control perception and the view of others, which might be beyond your control, but it is to be resilient and to stretch your ambition.

Beyond a point, doubt will paralyze you. It will rob you of energy and slow you down. Doubt robs you of self-belief and self-confidence. Take charge of the queries raised by doubt, clarify them and quit doubt.

Quit Doubt! Move Forward with Confidence!

When you are managing your time effectively, not only are you being fair to yourself and others but are also helping strike the right balance between your professional and personal space. You should start by planning your day and scheduling and prioritising your tasks. Let us get you tips on time management before you say, “If only I had more time.”

First Schedule the Good Things: Divide your time into three parts. First, schedule the good things. Then schedule the things that need to be done to do the good things. Finally, schedule the things that are essential to your well being.

Time of Day Gets you Going: Once you determine the most productive time of day, you can concentrate on the most important task at hand during that time. Many persons are active in the morning while some others can do a million things at night. What are you? A morning person or a night person?

Set Your Own Rhythm and Keep to the Beat: Sometimes, while heading a big task it is important for you to let loose, to take a break. The break does not have to be long, but effective enough to refresh your mind and body. Do what you love the most in this break, like, a leisurely walk around the block, talking to a friend, sketching, watching some TV, reading a book, etc., and clear your mind so you can refocus.

Review your Schedule: Take time out to review your schedule and check for drawbacks. See if you need to mend something in order to work more productively. Reorder tasks based on priorities and write about the achieved targets every day.

Time is the one resource that all of us are given in equal measure. Everybody is given 24 hours in a day, 30 days in a month and 365 days in a year. The question is how well do you use the time given.

All these tips will enable you to successfully manage your time, and achieve balance in personal-professional sphere of life. Make sure you are sleeping for eight hours a day – it will help you think clearly and work energetically. Remember, all it takes is a few adjustments in the way you manage your time daily to change your life forever.
