The category also has the presence of large Dairy Cooperatives that dominate the volume market. In terms of national brands in this category, it is restricted to 3-
4 brands including the large Dairy Cooperatives.

The Kwality Wall’s brand is one of the power brands of HUL and a market leader in the country. In 2001, Kwality Wall’s saw the opportunity of expanding its Ice Cream Parlours to capitalize the emerging ‘organized’ retail space and capture the imagination of the New Age Indians. After test marketing and understanding the market dynamics for 3 years, in August of
2004, it launched its new Kwality Wall’s Swirl’s Parlour. The new and dynamic franchise model introduced in 2006 helped it to ramp-up the Swirl’s parlour channel.
Today the Swirl’s parlor network is spread across 15 major cities and the growing at a steady and healthy pace, making it one of the larger Ice Cream Parlour Chains in the country. There has been a Robust & Consistent growth in sales; this has been led by expansion of Parlors and increase in existing thru puts. The franchisee channel registered a sales growth in excess of 40% for the current year.
